Our Story

Navigators of Development Association (NAVODA) is a Non-Governmental Organization which was created in 2006. NAVODA is a non-partisan, not for profit operating in Bunyoro Sub-region found in the Albertine Region in Uganda. It’s a Natural Resources, Environmental and Bio-diversity Conserving Organization empowering and sensitizing the communities on the benefits of conserving the Natural Resources, land and Human Rights , gender advocacy and access to justice .

Navigators of Development Association (NAVODA) is an indigenous Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) registered and permitted by the National Bureau on 28th September 2018. Registration Number 1637 – INDR139921374NB and the Permit Number 2689 – INDP0001374NB. NAVODA was formed by seven members whose goal was and still is to promote Conservation and Good Governance; Mainstream Environment and Natural in Development; promoting Transparency and Accountability Advocacy Campaigns; Partnership and Networking. (Sustainable Development through the Wise and Sustainable use of the Environment and the Natural Resources). The organization’s mission is:- To Navigate for Sustainable Development with communities without compromising the Rights of Future Generations. The vision is:- Socio-economic transforming communities through the Wise and Sustainable use of the Environment and the Natural Resources for Sustainable Development.  The area of operation currently is Hoima and Buliisa Districts.

Because we think it’s up to all citizens to hold the government accountable, we implement a range of activities with the view of empowering the local communities especially grass root women and women in leadership to demand for their rights,be involved in decission making fair, timely, prompt, adequate compensation and access to justice from the Courts of Law, do mediations. In addition, we encourage and support citizens to demand – among other things – good governance, transparency and accountability for natural resources in the extractive industry.
